What are breathing practices?

Most people are not aware that how we breathe affects almost every aspect of our health and even the way we perceive the world and ourselves.

The ancient yogis and sages knew this, which is why Breathing Practice (called Pranayama in yoga philosophy) is a fundamental pillar of Yoga.

The way we breathe is something we can learn to regulate and be aware of, and in particular is key to managing stress, anxiety and overwhelm.

We can learn to use breathing techniques to influence the Sympathetic Nervous System that regulates blood pressure, heart rate, circulation, digestion and many other bodily functions.

We can learn to use breathing techniques to enhance and bring us into the state of the Parasympathetic Nervous System that heals the body, creates balance and feelings of calm and relaxation.

Depending on your health and what you want to address, I can teach you specific practices that will have a significant impact on how you feel. For example, for anxiety and stress, there are simple techniques that can be incorporated into your daily routine that will produce a sense of grounding, calm and clarity.
